Thanks Welcome Home!
My family and I are eternally grateful for the blessings you have so generously provided. When we moved back to the Kansas City area after a tough stretch and a difficult situation in Michigan, we knew that our difficulties would not immediately end. We told ourselves that if we could be patient and disciplined, eventually, somewhere way down the road, we would be able to buy a home again.
Instead, thanks to the caring, selfless people at Significant Matters and First National Bank of Olathe, we found ourselves in a very unexpected situation. We were being offered the opportunity to participate in an affordable housing program sponsored by Significant Matters in collaboration with First National Bank of Olathe. The bank had a house they would make available to a family that was willing to participate in a 1-2 year affordable housing program of Significant Matters. The program would not only guide us through some much needed financial counseling, but would also get us into our own home if we were successful in the program.
By most standards, we would not have been considered as candidates to buy a home. It took us 17 months, but on July 22, 2008, we sat down in the bank and signed the papers. We are homeowners! We are so thankful and we are so indebted to both Significant Matters and First National Bank of Olathe. They not only made it possible for us to get into our own home but treated us with the utmost respect along the way. We were never made to feel inferior about our position, or made to feel that this program was really meant to benefit or advance anyone else. Through this entire process, it was obvious the goal was to help the community by helping one family create a better life.
I’m not sure there are words to fully express how thankful we are for all we have received through this experience. I hope and pray that we are not the only family to experience such love and care from organizations like yours. I pray that there are more organizations out there collaborating to make miracles happen for families that just need a chance, just a little guidance and help. I truly hope that more people can experience this kind of goodness and thankfulness.
Thank you again and again.
Sincerely,
The Lundy family (Geoffrey, Devyn, Shaylee and William)
